Pinterest Has Predicted The Top 2017 Home Decor Trends

Every year, Pinterest releases what trends they expect to see in the upcoming year based on pinned post activity. This year brings some exciting new styles to home decor. If you are looking for ideas to make your home shine this year, we have the full list of trends below. We hope this lineup will spark an idea in creating your dream home.

Climbing Plants

Bringing plants into any space will instantly freshen up the room. This year, why not try indoor vines? Succulents have been the “it plant” the past few years, so it’s time to shake things up. The beauty of vines is that they truly have a life of their own, so let them run wild.

Marble Wallpaper

Marble nowadays isn’t just for your kitchen countertop. Small-scale marble accents have been trending for a while now, but it’s time think big! Marble wallpaper can turn a space from drab to fab. Think about using it on an accent wall to create an elegant look in any room.

Nightstands

Nightstands aren’t a new idea to the bedroom, but Pinterest has seen a rise in pins regarding them. This year, try swapping out your outdated nightstand and replace it with something more unique. Look for ones with open shelving so that you can show off fun decor accents.

Hygge

Pronounced “hoo-ga,” Hygge is the Danish term for enjoying life’s simple pleasures. The idea is to create a sense of well-being and warmth, to build a sanctuary where you can feel open hearted and alive. To achieve this, you should create a home utilizing a calm color scheme, natural materials, and soft lighting.

Copper

The use of copper in the home has steadily been climbing over the last few years. Use this metal as an accent in any room. Lighting, cabinet pulls, planters, furniture…basically anything! If you want to go big, copper bathtubs can make a grand statement in your bathroom.

Deep Blues

If you are looking to create a moody vibe in your home, consider incorporating deep, navy blues – in any form. Paint your walls, buy a velvet blue couch, or transform your kitchen (like the photo shown) and breathe new life into your cabinets. The possibilities are endless.

Acrylic Decor

If your style tends to lean more modern, think about utilizing some acrylic accents. A Lucite chair, coffee table, or picture frame can make a room feel lighter. Acrylic pieces are great to use in small rooms or apartments since they create the appearance of more space.

Wood Tiles

Choosing the right flooring for your home is an important decision. This year, if you are looking to replace the flooring in your home, think about incorporating tiles that look like wood. Tile is durable, and it can withstand the damage that may come from pets or children. So if you want the look of wood, but the strength of tile, this is the way to go!

Farmhouse Style

If you watch HGTV’s Fixer Upper, you know that Chip and Joanna Gaines have brought resurgence to Farmhouse Style decor. Shiplap walls, unique metal and wood signage and a few heirloom pieces can be used to easily create this look – no farm required!

Heated Floors

Finally, Pinterest has seen a spike in pins related to heated floors. The cold, Wisconsin winter weather sure entices us to want to put radiant floor heat in our homes. This upgrade could be just what your bathroom needs to keep you warm while you get ready for the day. Or, include it in a three-seasons room or porch so you can get the most out of the space year round.
